Oprah: "I'm not wearing a weave"

Oprah Winfrey has denied that she wears a weave on her talk show.

Winfrey sported long, flowing tresses on Friday's program, prompting viewers to speculate that she had opted for hair extensions, TV Guide reports.

She addressed the issue at the end of the episode after her "Tweeple" - the name given to fans on her Twitter page - posed the question to her.

"Am I wearing a weave? Everybody's like, 'Oprah, we love your weave'. This is not a weave: this is my hair," she said.

The chat show host then revealed a photograph of herself with her hair in its natural state, which elicited a cheer and gasp from the audience and "Yowzer" from friend and Friday co-host Gayle King.

"This is what my hair looks like. This is me before it gets pressed and curled in the morning," she added.

She also wrote, "No I’m not wearing a weave" on Twitter during the show’s taping.
