Amanda Mock has 5 months experience, in a small town salon in Oregon. She trades with Richard Glass ,owner of Glass Hair on Venice Beach.
The women at the salon in Oregon hadn’t seen a black person except on TV. The workstations were filthy, Tabatha Coffey would have said WTF?
The first client wanted “Victory Rolls” (WTF?) He does a good job, nonetheless. After folding towels, his second client arrives, but he is told he has to answer the phone. He refuses to do it, in that totally gay-diva manner of his. “MySpace” hair is next, a euphemism for “fucked up purposely” hair. He does a great job again.
They ask him politely to be more open…he agrees.
On day two, they give him an assistant. He gives the client what she wants. The next client is magnificent too! they are looking much better than they ever look, and the salon owners know it.
On day three, Richard decorates and organizes the salon. Northern Exposure Magazine is doing a story on the salon. He has to prepare models for the photo shoot. He ends up on the cover of the magazine.
Meanwhile, on the beach…
Amanda hates Southern California, mostly from her stereotypes. the stylists look at her as if she’s from outer space. Not a wrong idea, with her ugly clothing ,tattoo sleeves, and red hair tied in a scarf. they call her “Lucy” Her client want a blow dry, which she says she can’t do. She walks out on her client, crying. amber shows her how to do it. The client has to tell her how to flat-iron. so amber tells her to “act with confidence” She doesn't do a good job on her second client.
On day two, she again walks out crying, saying everyone can “suck it” her favorite term. amber comes out and finds her, tries to convince her to return, she refuses. While they try to figure out how to fit in her clients, she calls mama, crying and whining’.
Looking like a broke down Lucille Ball, she returns , and is told she has to “represent”. the client wants something she can actually do, so it’s not so bad, but she’s too slow. It all worked out, under this new format of the Style Network.

If the Loft gets inspected, it is so dunzo. So gross. I can't believe it's still open.
