Tabatha's Salon Takeover Lofty Ambitions

Scissorphobia

I drove by The Loft on Broadway the last time I was in Long Beach, and remember thinking how distinctive it looked. Who knew what was going on inside until Tabatha took over?

The owner, Tami, has no salon experience. She looks extremely over-medicated and stiff. No life there at all. Crickets.

The level of service and styling expertise simply sucks. Cobwebs on the plants, hair in sinks, dirt everywhere. Tami agrees with everything, in a drugged out sort of way. Love to see her Valium prescription.

It turns out Tami, who looks to be about 50, borrows $1500 a month from her mother. How much of this is prescriptions, who can say. She knows nothing about what she takes in or what goes out, she's just there. She thinks she'll be out of business in a month. During the staff meeting, she was just kind of there. Richie is the only true professional in the place.

In an episode that must have been recorded first, Tabatha gives the staff uniforms and evaluates their skills. Except for Richie, who has many years of experience, they all have poor skills. Tami hides out downstairs in this two-story salon, frustrating Tabatha.

Tabatha gives Tami a much-needed makeover, tutoring her as she goes along. Tabatha gets somewhat emotional (what?) as she talks about how she feels about hair.

She drags Tammy out to market the salon. Then its salon makeover time. Tami says she's excited.... as much as she can be.

After another evaluation of the skills, she puts Richie in charge...good move. She recommends demoting Melanie to junior stylist. Tami decides she will be able to go shopping.

In the now-familiar formula , upon Tabatha's return, things are going well.
