Life's a beach! The stylists must create a fun new look for laid-back surfer boys, giving them hair that compliments their lifestyle, both on and off the beach. The competition heats up during the elimination challenge as the stylists must use wigs to create a fashionable cut and style for women with alopecia.. Oscar Blandi (clients include Katie Holmes, Salma Hayek and Jessica Biel), joins as guest judge.
In the short cut challenge, the remaining stylists are taken to the beach, to cut and style the hair of surfers, fresh out of the salt water with dirty hair. Dee and Nicole do the best job, according to Oscar Blandi, Glenn does the worst, giving her surfer a girly cut. Nicole wins, causing Charlie and some of the others to roll their eyes. They are starting to see what true competition Nicole, with only 7 years in the industry, can be.
Elimination challenge
The stylists are asked to create looks for women with alopecia areata, an auto-immune disease that attacks the hair follicles. This was the best segment of this show so far, and these women were very brave to do this on national television. Nicole, as the short cut winner, assigns the models. She gives Paulo his model first, because he is the only other one, besides her, who seems to have any compassion for these women.
The wigs, from HairuWear, didn't seem to be of the best quality. Most of the wigs were red. As the stylists cut and styled the hair, you could see how difficult changing a wig truly is. Nicole and Paulo were the only two that inherited the compassion gene, because they cried, their clients cried, and they really worked hard to please their clients, more so than win the competition. Charlie, Nekisa (again?) and Gail did the worst job. Charlie is still talking shit, but no longer backing it up. If you're gonna talk, at least show some skills.
Paulo actually gave his client a look with bounce and body, seemingly not possible with wigs. Nicole took a chance and gave her client a short cut like hers, doing the best she could with a wig. In an emotional ending, Paulo won.
Gail was boring the judges. Despite the fact that Charlie did the worst job, they sent her to the home for hapless hairdressers.
