Split Ends: Gina Forestieri and Alexander Hernandez
What happens when an obsessive-compulsive stylist swaps places with a free spirit?
Not much of a stretch in Orange County.
Alex works at Circa 92 in Santa Ana. This is supposedly upscale. The owner, Lela is a matronly type, who understands that creative people have "quirks" .
Gina works at Splitends in Costa Mesa, giving edgy razor cuts and extensions. Her goal is to look like a rock star. Christopher is her boss, with a good case of OCD.
When the limos pick them up, neither is told where they are going. Around the corner and down the street..
Gina is pissed to be in Santa Ana....and Alex is none too cool with Costa Mesa.
Carolyn is Gina's first customer..wants height, height height..says Alex can take a pubic hair and make a bouffant. (Haireality would love to see this, well, maybe not)
Lela had to help her tease it. It was awful.
Day 2
Gina bashes Alex, based on what her boss has told her....bad move. Lela dresses her down and gives her a list of clients...
Sasha is the first client, again, no teasing ,but she tries unsuccessfully to steal her away. Sasha leaves her card on the floor.
She tells the next client she's from New York..so the client loved the hair!!!
Gina's Day
Everyone has to put their things away, no coffee, no magazines, no candles, no paper
The local paper from Costa Mesa covers Gina as she goes through her day.
The publicity makes Lela pretty happy.
In the end, Gina feels she learned from the experience.
Alex is pissed to be in Costa Mesa, and...
Christopher turned him down for a job previously. Great beginnings
Alex's test client is Dana, who wants red and white hair
One of Christopher's rules is no color is to fall on the floor....Alex has to stop and clean up his spillage.
Five hours later, she had red hair with blue extensions.
Day 2
Christopher has one on one with Alex.....there seemed to be no point to it.
Color and cut...not fast enough for Christopher
Alex feels overbooked.
After work they all go rock climbing at some indoor simulated OC type place, where were they, Disneyland?...gimme a break, no pun intended. Should anyone be worried?
Alex's Day
Alex goes to pick up things at Splitends, so he meets Gina.
He brought back slipcovers for chairs, magazines, no smoking, (surprised Christopher allowed smoking)....brings in client with children.........OMG
Final Challenge: Chris's mother, he successfully weaves and colors her.
Alex cuts Christopher's hair as they talked about why Christopher wouldn't hire him.
Before parting, he gave Christopher a painting...Christopher cries. Awwwwww...........
Alex is glad for what he has at his salon.
