Everything Old is New Again

Amy Winehouse, that bad girl singing diva, is channeling The Ronettes, the singing group from the '60's.

The Ronettes were basically a one hit wonder, with the song"Be My Baby". They had the bad girl look of the time, with beehive hair, tight clothing and tons of eye makeup.

The Ronettes

Veronica Bennett, the lead singer, married Phil Spector ( yeah, the same guy on trial for murder) , their producer.

The relationship and divorce were tumultuous to say the least, and made headlines back in the '70's.He blocked them from being inducted into the Rock' Roll Hall of Fame for a time (according to Veronica, known as to Ronnie ) but they were inducted while he was on trial.

What the hell, the Ronettes were a pioneers and absolutely awesome. They had several big hits ('Baby I love you', 'Walking in the rain', 'Do I love you'...) and even if they didn't last as long as Phil Spector wished and worked his ass off for, they sure weren't just a "one-hit-wonder"...

I agree, the Ronettes were certainly not just a 'one hit wonder' you have no idea what your talking about.

The Ronettes are definately not one hit wonders! I wasn't born when they were out but I am 23yrs old now & I still love listening to their music. My mum used to play their music alot when I was a toddler. Listening to them now just brings back fond memories I have of those days.
